Hailing from Bellingham, Washington, Australian-American baritone Joshua Larsen knew from an early age that singing was his calling. He has competed and placed first and second in many regional solo vocal competitions in Washington State.

Larsen believes in the power of music to reach across borders and to inspire at a deep level. He believes that the classical genre should be accessible to all and looks forward to working towards this goal during his time at Peabody and beyond

In the summer of 2025, he made his opera debut in Gianni Schicchi as Maestro Spinelloccio and Pinellino with Varna International Music Academy in Varna, Bulgaria, and Asiago, Italy, under the baton of Maestro Gregory Buchalter. He also portrayed the role of Fred Cullen in the Peabody Institute and Morgan State University co-production of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene

Choral activities have also been pivotal to Larsen’s passion for music. He has performed Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor with the Bellingham Festival of Music under the baton of Maestro Marcelo Lehninger, Fauré’s Requiem in a reimagined version arranged by the conductor Dr. Mabalot with the Bellingham Chamber Chorale, and Rosinni’s Petite Messe Solennelle with the Varna International Music Academy in Bulgaria and Italy.

Larsen is currently pursuing a BM in Vocal Performance and Music Education at The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
